work by Brenda Burgess

Ruby through Blue

Brenda Burgess is an artist and sculptor. For her oil paintings Brenda uses a light, calming palette that is often deeply textural. The resulting images are peaceful and ethereal.

Brenda also produces portrait sculpture to commission  in either clay or bronze. For these she uses a kindly but honest eye. “I believe I am capturing a moment in an individuals life. There is a responsibility as I know many of these portraits will become much-loved family hierlooms” she says. Brenda’s portraits are generally of loved ones, often children. Brenda has exhibited at both The Royal Academy of the Arts and The Mall Galleries, London SW1.

With her enthusiasm for her craft and with a wish to share it with others Brenda has, over the past 16 years, developed a programme of Arts workshops. These are both interactive and educationalas Brenda explains, “The workshops are all key stage/core subject relevant but, most importantly, they are fun!”

Brenda often tailors workshops to clients needs but subjects that are often asked for include; Portraiture, The Tudors, Gargoyles, Heraldry, and Growing Cycles.

Brendas’ clients list includes museums, festivals, schools, councils and heritage sites. For the last three years Brenda has worked in conjunction with Leeds Castle as their Artist/Educator providing workshops for visiting students.

For older enthusiasts Brenda offers special sculpture days. Ideal for an unusal birthday treat or friends and corporate groups wanting to 'have a go'. These sessions already have an enthusiastic following .

Brenda’s work will be shown with Antonia Enthoven during SEOS 2010 in beautiful surroundings of mature gardens. Artist demonstrations each Sunday. Live piano music 5th and 19th June from 2pm by Jack, a classically trained musician. Home made cakes and teas. Cards. Parking available. Warm welcome.
