Nuno felt and hand-dyed silk scarves. Figurative to abstract paintings in acrylic. My exploration into colour and texture continues. Spinning and rag rug demos.
Paintings and textiles are a passion of mine and have become a full time occupation since I took early retirement six years ago.
I was brought up in France, studied Law in Paris, moved to the UK and worked in Information Services for over twenty years.
Mostly self-taught and certainly self-driven, I follow my inspiration and love of texture, colour blending and harmony.
Paintings have evolved from polished figurative pastels and acrylics to more intuitive pieces of imagined landscapes or places visited.
Textiles started as knitted and crocheted wearable accessories and I am currently exploring the Nuno felt technique on silk scarves.
I also enjoy making rugs and small wall hangings, using the hooking method with strips of fabric or wool, known as “rag rug”.
I am grateful to my father for instilling his love of Art in me and to my mother and grand-mothers for teaching me all techniques of textile making.
The S E Open Studios scheme that I joined in 2005, both as artist/maker and committee member, has provided me with an endless source of inspiration and enjoyment. Do come and visit and share your interest in Art and Textiles with me!
