Although living and working in London for much of my life, the countryside where I was born and educated made me long to return to the country. Once I retired in 1994 I was able to follow my dream of being able to paint and draw inspired by my surroundings.
 
I like to capture the local landscapes in watercolour or oils, but also as pencil drawings.
My special interest is the study of butterflies and I belong to the Butterfly Conservation Group. I paint mainly British butterflies (and British birds) in fine detail. I study the life cycle of the butterflies and include other stages in their metamorphosis and site them on their chosen habitat and foodplant.
Some of my paintings are available as numbered Giclee prints and as greetings cards.
 
My work on fabric painting has resulted in my being asked to run workshops for quilting groups (in 2009 and again this year).   I demonstrate how to create original designs on fabric which can then be quilted. Also silk painting for wallhangings, cushions and for wearable art, mainly scarves and waistcoats.
