Unique abstract wall pieces. Fabrics hand dyed to create atmospheric designs. Commissions undertaken.
“Mandy Munroe’s images, although abstract, bring to mind the grittiness of an urban landscape. Bold geometric shapes dominate her wall pieces the way architecture defines a city. Rectangles are erected like looming skyscrapers and busy factories. Thick curved lines swoop like overpasses, creating movement as they drive the viewer’s eyes across the canvas.
This industrial look is further echoed in Munroe’s stark colour palette. Blacks and greys control the works, with browns, tans, and dirty blues acting as accents. The colours are mainly solid or slightly mottled, similar to the concrete and metal that makes up a city.”

I specialise in contemporary wall pieces creating one-off pieces for exhibition and to commission. Dyeing and overdyeing then piecing spontaneously, cutting into the cloth, bending the lines and developing the designs directly with the fabric is a very fluid process that allows me to create an atmosphere that evokes a memory or a feeling. Ashford Borough Council recently commissioned four pieces for the Singleton Environment Centre.
I am a member AXIS and of Ashford Visual Artists; an arts association dedicated to raising awareness of local arts culture and was Chairman of South East Open Studios 2004. I have also been selected into the Society of Designer Craftsmen.
