South East Open Studios - Juliet Simpson, Chairman of SEOS, describes this event as “giving participants the chance to show visitors what they create and why, and also how and where they make it. Artists and visitors are often surprised and delighted by what happens when studios are open. Each year the number of studios and visitors increases, and sales and attendance were higher than ever last year, when 241 artists and craftspeople took part in 224 different workplaces.”

This year the studios will be open between June 10 and 26, and there will also be a pre-Christmas event. Participating artists are listed in a full colour guide, together with an illustration of their work, directions to their studio and the dates when it is open. This guide is available from local libraries and council offices in Kent and East Sussex from the beginning of June, or send an A5 SAE (58p stamp) to Lee O'Connor, South East Open Studios, 14 Knaves Acre, Headcorn, Kent TN27 9TJ.
