Kent Messenger What's On
Back in June 1997, 60 artists living around Sevenoaks and Tunbridge Wells got together and, with the help of two arts development officers, opened their studios to the public during two weeks in June.
South East Open Studios is now in its ninth year and is bigger than ever and 290 artists in Kent and East Sussex will be throwing open their doors and inviting the public inside.
One of those artists is Emma Abnett, of Burham, near Rochester. She will exhibit a collection of locally-painted watercolours and pastels at her studio based at 63 Whitehorse Crescent, Burham. It is open between 10am and 5pm on Saturday, June 11 and Sunday, June 12. It is also open the following two weekends.
As one of the many pastel and watercolour artists, Dominique Morgan is displaying paintings and textile work at Little Sandyhurst Lane, Ashford between Friday, June 10 and Sunday, June 26, 10am to 6pm.
A 56-page guide book is available free from libraries and at www.southeastopenstudios.org.uk
