Artists across the area will put their talents on display in the annual South East Open Studios event starting tomorrow (Friday).
The festival, in its ninth year, offers artists in Kent and East Sussex the chance to open their stidios to the public and meet fellow creators. Artists taking part come from areas as varied as Folkstone, Dover, Deal, Sandgate, Sandwich, Walmer and Greatstone.
An introductory evening was organised for some for the Shepway exhibitors at the Leas Cliff Hall in Folkstone on Friday.
The Art in the Community event was arranged by Shepway council. Dozens of visitors attended to look at the wide range of work, including paintings, textiles, sculpture and ceramics, exhibited around the café foyer.
A South East Open Studios spokesman said: “for anyone interested in owning a unique piece of art, or thinking about having something specially designed, the festival is an ideal opportunity to see the art where it is created, and talk to the artists and makers about their work.
“Many people visit the studios just for the exerience of seeing the art, but whatever the reason, browsing around a number of studios makes a great day out.
The festival will be running until 26 June. For more information visit www.southeastopenstudios.org.uk.
