Pictures inspired by the local landscape will sit alongside paintings with an African theme in an artists studio which is to open to the public.
Phyllis McDowell, of Myrtle Raod, is just one artist taking part in the South East Open Studios event which runs until Sunday, June 26. It will give visitors the chance to meet artists in their working environment. There will also be an opportunity to browse, discuss materials and techniques and, of course, to buy works.
Pictures of local scenes, such as Folkestone Harbour and churches across Shepway will be on display along with a series of paintings which draw on the years the artist lived in Africa.
Her studios will be open Saturdays, Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays during the event, from 11am to 6pm.
Other studios taking part are in Bournemouth Gardens and Church Street in Folkestone, Castle Bay in Sandgate, Hillside Street in Hythe, St Marys Road in West Hythe, Dymchurch High Street, Rolfe Lane in New Romney, Leonard Road in Greatstone, Cannon Street in Lydd and Lydd High Street. Works by two Marsh artists will also be shown at Brookland Village Hall.
