Every year in June, artists and craftspeople across south east England open their doors to the public. It is a unique opportunity for visitors to meet, talk to and see artists demonstrating and explaining their techniques as part of the South East Open Studios event which is free to the public.
 
A full colour guide will be published and distributed in May. It will include a description of each artist's work with contact details and travel directions. Studio locations will also be found on the SEOS website interactive map and by printable street maps linked to each artist’s individual web page.
 
The website www.seos-art.org, is a vibrant and informative site for both artist members and visitors providing a comprehensive database to the Arts in the South East.
 News, messages and opportunities are regularly updated while individual pages have links through to artists' own websites.
 
Taking part in Open Studios is a beneficial way for artists to promote and sell their work, gain a base of potential clients and to become part of a supportive network of creative individuals.
 The last South East Open Studios event in  2008 attracted over 24,000 people. Visitors were asked to comment on their experience and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive.
 
The next SEOS event will take place on 5th - 21st June 2009. A wide range of work will be on show from traditional oil and watercolours to sculpture, ceramics, textiles, stained glass and jewellery. Many artists produce work in a range of prices and also sell prints and handmade cards. Some will be taking part in specially organized trails and taster exhibition events.
