The 2009 Open Studios Network conference took place in the impressive new TechnoCentre at Coventry University. It was attended by 33 delegates from 23 UK Open Studios including SEOS Chairman Rod McIntosh, Website Editor Paul Williams and our OSN representative Helen Mayer.
The intensive two day meeting covered a variety of topics including; running an Open Studio event, website development, event evaluation, public relations and media training. There was also an Open Space Forum where groups of delegates discussed a variety of issues.
Paul Williams was invited to give a demonstration of the SEOS online application system and this was well received by the delegates. Many Open Studios are still developing their websites and wanted to know more about the online features available to SEOS participants.
Helen Mayer helped to organise the conference and is currently writing an Open Studios Handbook. This will be a valuable resource for all OS organisers and will be available online next year.
