Online application- FAQs

Applying online is the quickest and easiest way to join SEOS, but sometimes problems occur. Before contacting us please read our Frequently Asked Questions.

Website Account Questions

Q: "I want to apply online but my email address is not recognised".
A: Everyone has to create a new website account before applying to join SEOS 2010. This is because 2009 and 2010 entries are on the website at the same time from December to February. If you joined in 2009, you can use last year's email address and password, but you must create a new account by clicking on Sign Up For SEOS 2010.

Q: "I have created a new account but I cannot log in"
A:  Check your email address and password are exactly the same as you supplied when you signed up.

Application Questions

Q: "I can't find the application form".
A: You need to create a new account before you can access your application form. Click on Sign Up for SEOS 2010 in the main menu, add your email address and password and submit.  You will then be logged in, click- Fill in online entry form to apply for SEOS 2010.

Q: Does it matter how I fill in the form?
A: Yes, what you type is exactly how it will appear in your Guide and website entries.  Please use normal large and small text as you see here. You will see a preview of your web page when you apply- go back and make changes if necessary.

Q: "I can't upload my image file, the website said it was too large, what do I do?"
A: You need to reduce your image using image editing software (such as Photoshop) so that it is under 5Mb. As a rough guide, your image should just be able to fill your monitor screen without appearing blurred. If you are unable to do this, please send it on a CD/DVD to the address shown on the email you receive after your application.

Q: "I can't upload my image, the website said it was the wrong type of file."
A: Only image files can be uploaded. Word processing, desktop publishing and database files will not upload even if they contain an image. The name of your file must end in an extension showing the file type e.g. .jpg  .tif  .psd  .png etc.

Q: "I uploaded my image but it was not shown on the web page preview, do I need to upload it again?"
A: No, this is because your image was not a jpeg file. Other types of image file, tiff, png, etc are OK but will not appear in the preview.  Files over 5Mb and non-image files (text files, Word files etc) will not upload and you will receive an online warning of this.

Q: "I’ve submitted my entry but it needs to be changed, can I do this?"
A: Yes, you can edit your entry up to 72 hours after you applied. Log in to your account and click on Edit Online Form. Changes can be reviewed using the web page preview. To make changes after 72 hours, send an email to database@seos-art.org as soon as possible.

Q: "I want change my entry but can't find the link to my form"
A: The link is only available when you first log in. If you are already logged in and viewing other web pages, you need to log out then log in again.

Q: "When will I receive an email to confirm my membership?"

A: Provided you have supplied a valid email address, you should receive an SEOS email within a few minutes, but it could take up to one hour. If you have not received it after an hour, please check your spam or junk mail folder. To avoid this problem please add info@seos-art.org to your contact list or safe sender list.

Payment Questions

Q: "PayPal said I’m already registered, but it will not accept my password".
A: This is not your SEOS password. The password you need is for your PayPal account.

Q: "If I apply online can I pay by cheque?"
A: No, payment is by Credit Card, Debit Card or PayPal account only. If you wish to pay by cheque you need to apply by post. A postal application form is available on the downloads page.

Web Page Questions

Q: "I
received an email saying my web page is live, I checked and found the image was missing"
A: Don't worry, your image is being processed and will be uploaded as soon as possible.

Q: "I received an email saying my web page is live but the website said- page could not be found"
A:  If you applied by post, your web page will not be available for approximately one month after we received your form. If you applied online but ticked the box to delay your web page, it will not be available until March 1st.

More information can be found in our illustrated step-by-step guide, How To Apply Online. This is available as a PDF on the Downloads page
