Tuesday 30 May 2023 – 5 to 7pm – South East Open Studios 2023 launches with an exciting LIVE art competition

Category : Events

As you will be aware, South East Open Studios 2023 launches with an exciting LIVE art competition at The Mick Jagger Centre in Dartford, and we would like YOU to come and take part!

Tuesday 30 May 2023 – 5 to 7pm
The Mick Jagger Centre, Dartford DA1 2JZ

The aim of this event is to highlight the visual arts across the south east, and specifically promote the artists and makers who are taking part in SEOS this year.

We have arranged for Miss Havisham and Mr Micawber from the Rochester and Chatham Dickens Fellowship to sit for us in full regalia, and have invited an audience of friends, art lovers, local dignitaries and press to observe the proceedings.

The wonderful Sarah Dance (strategic consultant for the culture and creative industries) will oversee proceedings and award a prize to the artist who creates the artwork that ‘speaks to her the strongest’ – think Sky Portrait Artist of the Year without the pressure of a film crew (and without Stephen Mangan … sadly)!

Your involvement is vital, you can join in on three levels (ideally we would like you to commit to all three but realise this isn’t for everyone) but please note – you do not have to be an award-winning figurative artist to take part, this is a fun way to generate publicity for our event, we would love your support.

Participation: To take part in the LIVE competition
Display: To display your work for the duration of the event
Attendance only: To come and meet your fellow local creatives, have a drink, chat to local dignitaries, champion the visual arts and help kick-off SEOS23 in style
