Bill and Anthea are planning a busy 2025 for Ashdown Pottery with exhibitions, open houses, commissions and teaching. We are excited to be part of SEOS for the 4th year in June, this time as part of a group of six artists showing and demonstrating here at the pottery. More details to follow soon.
Biography
I was a doctor for thirty five years before doing a three year BA in ceramics at UCA Farnham from 2017 to 2020. My partner, Anthea and me then co-founded Ashdown Pottery which is now in its fifth year. We make, exhibit, sell and teach here in the idyllic surroundings of Ashdown Forest. We specialise in classical stoneware ceramic forms with a modern twist for house, table and garden. Colour is at the heart of our work, and I develop and mix all our glazes with a palette that reflects our life in the forest. We have exhibited widely at shows and open houses and also sell through a number of commercial outlets. We are passionate about iterative design, based on classical and traditional forms and techniques, to create our own distinctive studio and standard ware which we are developing year on year.
