Biography
Chris has always been captivated by the quality of light — how it shifts throughout the day, casts shadows, reveals texture, and creates contrasts that change the mood of a landscape. Much of Chris’ practice begins with simply observing: the sky, the horizon and the way light moves over hills or across water.
Working primarily in acrylics, Chris creates abstracted landscapes that capture the atmosphere of a moment rather than depict a specific place. She is drawn to the vastness of the sky, the sense of openness, and the subtle emotional tone light can bring to a scene.Living in Sussex, Chris takes constant inspiration from her surroundings — from the rolling South Downs to the windswept beaches around Brighton. These landscapes are both grounding and expansive, familiar and mysterious. Chris uses a range of mark-making techniques and layered applications to explore texture, rhythm, and space within her compositions.
Chris runs workshops from her studio in Buxted, East Sussex.
Chris is a member of the Chalk Gallery in Lewes, showing her work all year round. Chris belongs to the Sussex Arts Collective and shows her work at Gallery Uno in Seaford.
