Biography
Hannah Buchanan (b.1997) is a British landscape painter based in Kent. Her focus on the landscape is stimulated by her sense of tranquillity in rural settings and her interest in Biocentrism. Buchanan studied Fine Art with History of Art at the University of Leeds where she developed her ability to capture the delicacy of the English countryside through oil painting.
Buchanan exhibits regularly in the UK, most notably with the Royal Glasgow Institute, winning the Cuthbert Award for ‘Work of Distinction from a New Young Artist’. Furthermore, Hannah has received international recognition after SaatchiArt named her a Rising Star of 2024. She has also featured in the TV series Landscape Artist of the Year, where she was selected as a Wildcard Winner in 2019.
Alongside her own practice, Buchanan is also the founder and director of Benenden Art Fair, a celebrated art fair in the heart of Kent. She enjoys painting en plein air and in her workshop, as she is inspired by the greenery around her that constantly changes through the seasons.
