Shelley Rose
My work encompasses abstract colour silkscreen prints and conceptual fine art photography in bespoke frames, as well as unique circular lights.
The observation of light and light phenomena translated into the application of colour pigment inform the process of colour application as well as the outcome. The creation of each silkscreen print is an experience of discovery exploring the dynamic relationship between abstract form and colour: the form receding, enabling perception of colours and their relationship, at the same time revealing a space beyond, a way through.
In my still life work I use conceptual photography to tell a story with a single image or composition. Creating still life compositions, using modern technology to create classical imagery and artwork allows me to play with illusionary elements like unconventional lighting, forced perspective and juxtaposed objects. This results in everyday objects taking on an intriguing and surreal ambience.
