We are looking for an experienced marketing person who is passionate about the arts, to join our vibrant committee.

South East Open Studios is a not for profit organisation that exists to encourage public interest in the visual arts across the whole of the South East. The aim is to enable all artists and makers in Kent, East Sussex and the Surrey borders, to engage with their communities and connect with art lovers, through one of the biggest and best open studios events in the UK.

Our vision is to enable artists and makers to forge connections and develop meaningful relationships that will establish them and their practice within their communities and the wider arts arena, strengthening the visual arts across the South East. The Marketing role is critical in establishing SEOS as one of the biggest and best Open Studios events in the UK … ‘promoting our artists and their work is the most important thing we can do’.

ACTIVITIES

Specific areas of responsibility include:

  • Nurturing and managing the mailing list
  • Managing the monthly newsletter – generating stories, targeting artists and visitors
  • Creating Press Releases to support press-worthy activities, including the annual eventand other local events where necessary
  • Build relationships with relevant local editors and reporters
  • Develop a strategy for promotion and advertising:

What are the key publications we should be aiming to get editorials in?
(High effort / high cost / big impact)

Where should we be placing ads? Advertorials?
(Medium effort / lower cost / high impact)

What listings must we be in (what’s on. parish mags etc, local level)?
(Low effort / free / high impact)

  • Develop ideas for bringing in a ‘Distribution Partner’ to get our guides into the hands of art lovers – supermarket chain (Waitrose?) or publication (Kent Life?)
  • Liaise with the Social Media team to create eye-catching visual campaigns for both online and print
  • Work with the committee on all aspects of South East Open Studios

SKILLS
The successful candidate must have experience of driving campaigns, writing press releases and developing relationships with editors and other media representatives. They must be highly motivated and good at communicating, passionate about the arts and knowledgeable about the South East.

DETAILS
This is a voluntary role with an honorarium of £800. Approximately 25 days work across 12 months.

We are looking for experienced Sponsorship Liaison Officers who are passionate about the arts, to work alongside our vibrant committee.

The aim is to enable all artists and makers in Kent, East Sussex and the Surrey borders, to engage with their communities and connect with art lovers, through one of the biggest and best open studios events in the UK.

The Sponsorship Liaison Officer role is critical in establishing SEOS as one of the biggest and best Open Studios events in the UK.

ACTIVITIES

Specific areas of responsibility include:

  • Working with the committee to develop relevant content and business sponsorship leads
  • Applying for Arts Council funding to support the development of SEOS’s online activities,if successful oversee the expenditure of the grant and complete the evaluation report forthe Arts Council
  • Building relationships with potential business partners and identifying potential sponsors,securing sponsorship at a regional and local level
  • Managing guide advertising, selling space (up to £5k of space available) working with and broadening existing advertiser list

SKILLS
The successful candidate must have previous experience of developing relationships with the business sector and creating successful working partnerships. They must be highly motivated and good at communicating, passionate about the arts and knowledgeable about the South East.

DETAILS
This role is commission-based, the successful applicant will be entitled to 10% of all funding secured, and advertising space sold.
