Exhibition and News

I’m currently showing in two galleries in London, I have an original oil pastel at The Mall Galleries with The Pastel Society in their ‘Benchmark’ exhibition which end on 8th of February 2025 and I have two original oil pastels at The Green and Stone Gallery ‘Works on Paper’ Exhibition in Chelsea at  251-253 Fulham Rd, Chelsea, London which ends on the 15 of February. Please pop along if you’re in London.

I’ve been selected as a finalist in The John Richardson French Art Residency Award in collaboration with Hambly and Hambly which I’m excited to show works in Ireland at the finalist group exhibition.

I currently have over 20 works in a solo exhibition in The Old Bank Dungarvan in Waterford Ireland, a small town where my husbands family are from and that reminds me of my own home in New Zealand.

Biography

Originally from New Zealand, the award-winning London-based artist Luana Asiata embarked on a remarkable journey back to her artistic roots amidst the tumultuous landscape of the 2020 pandemic. After dedicating precious years to nurturing her young family, Luana rekindled her passion for art, unveiling a debut collection of fine art prints that garnered widespread acclaim. In 2020, Luana clinched the runner-up position at Top Drawer New Designer to Watch, she was shortlisted twice for the prestigious Royal Academy London Summer Exhibition in 2021 and 2022, respectively.

The year 2023 earned her accolades such as being shortlisted for the Women in Art prize and winning the Merit Award at the esteemed Hampstead Summer Art Fair. Luana Asiata works primarily in a semi abstract expressionist style, she employs gestural brushstrokes, utilising oils and acrylics to convey her innermost emotions onto the canvas. Nature serves as inspiration for Luana Asiata, infusing her pieces with organic energy and raw beauty. Through her art, Asiata invites viewers to appreciate the intrinsic beauty and spirit of the landscape, transcending geographical boundaries to evoke a sense of belonging and nostalgia.

Luana Asiatas background in graphic design and surface pattern design lends a unique perspective to her compositions, evident in her masterful use of colour and form. Through her art, she invites viewers to explore the depths of their own emotions and connect with the vibrant world around them.

Luana’s artistic footprint spans continents, she is represented by galleries such as Wychwood Art Gallery in Oxfordshire, Castlemartyr Gallery in Cork, Jane Newbury and Skylark Galleries in London and is a member of ArtCan.

Beyond the realm of traditional exhibitions, Luana’s artistic vision extends to collaborative endeavours with interior designers. Notably, she was commissioned by the esteemed interior and design studio Johnson Naylor to craft 16 bespoke works for the Lendlease client at the ‘Park Sayer’ Elephant & Castle Residential Development.
