My paintings draw inspiration from my love of the natural world, particularly floristry.
Organic shapes and colour, often offset by hard lines and marks, play a major role in my work, utilising the contrast of materials and techniques to facilitate my creative response. I use the canvas to paint and transform the original starting point by adding history and layers for interpreting the personal and universal impact of daily life.
It is a process based on instinct and emotional response through the power of the chosen medium unhindered by any sense of expectation or control. The work presents no overt statement or answer, it simply invites the viewer to take and see whatever connects and resonates with them from within.
