Biography
My work is concerned with the geometry, poetics, and stories of places and spaces. Working in mixed media, painting, drawing and print, I look for poetry in the tangible.
I usually begin with close observation and drawing on site, and experiment with different processes and materials back in the studio.
I like to combine defined shapes, territories, boundaries, and borders with accidental, fluid, and instinctive elements. The stories, associations and properties of materials often lead the work.
In 2024, I travelled to Japan to explore Japanese woodblock print, and this has also informed my work.
I grew up in Yorkshire, on the edge of The Pennines, and studied Fine Art in Liverpool and Public Art at Chelsea School of Art. My work has been selected and exhibited in local and national exhibitions including Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair, Ty Pawb International Print exhibition, Wells Contemporary and Royal West of England Academy, Lido Stores, Hastings Museum and Art Gallery and Rye Art Gallery.
For the last 15 years I have lived and worked in Hastings.
