Biography
Marie completed a BA Hons in 3D design at Middlesex, working in clay, wood, metal, and glass followed by a Master’s Degree at the Royal College of Art.
The three-year Master’s degree specialised in contemporary furniture design. One piece from this period is now held in the permanent collection of the V&A.
On graduation she worked in London for architecture and design firms, including Fitch and McColl whilst also continuing her own work in both ceramics and also painting.
In the late 1980s, a move to Kent provided the opportunity to establish her own studio.
Today, Marie works mainly from her garden studio in Tunbridge Wells.
Her ceramics are particularly inspired by landscape – the sea, shorelines and effects of water. This involves making forms and developing glazes that aim to echo the textures and patterns shaped by water and erosion.
