Biography
I am a painter based in Benenden working from a home studio on the edge of the High Weald. My practice explores memory, atmosphere and emotional residue through layered, gestural abstraction, often drawing on landscape, light and fragments of experience.
I studied History of Art and English at Goldsmiths, where I developed an interest in colour, structure and feeling. My work sits in dialogue with British post-war abstraction. I take inspiration from, for example, the colour and emotional register of Howard Hodgkin, the spatial dynamics of Patrick Heron, alongside the energy of Cecily Brown.
I work in acrylic and oil, stretching my own canvases and making handmade frames, sometimes intentionally misaligned to challenge the boundary between painting and object.
My recent body of work, ‘caught, saved, seen’ (2024–2026), reflects on personal moments, briefly held, reworking them into something more abstract but lasting.
