Biography
Sheri Gee is a British fine artist, specialising in oil painting, based in East Grinstead, West Sussex. With a degree in Illustration, Gee has developed her fine art practice over many years, through private focus, short courses and life drawing, whilst working part-time and raising a family. Commuting into London, Gee became captivated by the solitary commuter in the rain, drawn to paint the passing colours of coats and umbrellas, lights and reflections. The rain collection has grown to over thirty paintings. Her recent work continues a fascination of colour, motion and mark making in paint.
To extend and inform her practice, she also regularly paints en plein air, both in London and the Ashdown Forest.
Her work has been exhibited with The Other Art Fair, The Sussex Contemporary, and the Society of Women Artists, amongst others. Gee was a finalist in the 2018 Holly Bush Emerging Woman Painter Prize (now Women in Art). One of Gee’s portraits was included in the book Portraits for NHS Heroes, published in 2020 by Bloomsbury.
