Biography
Jane Burdett is a contemporary fluid artist based in Kent, inspired by long walks along the east coast shoreline with her dog. The ever-changing horizons where sea meets sky continue to shape her visual language — from soft tidal gradients to expansive skies and shifting coastal light.
Working primarily with fluid techniques, Jane creates expressive seascape-inspired pieces alongside vibrant abstract works that celebrate movement, energy and organic form. Her process embraces unpredictability, allowing colour to merge and settle naturally, echoing the rhythm and flow of water.
More recently, Jane’s practice has expanded into floral-inspired collections. These works explore the same sense of movement and luminosity found in her seascapes, but through layered petals, flowing forms and rich botanical colour palettes. Rather than traditional still-life representations, her florals feel immersive and atmospheric — blooms unfolding in motion, alive with depth and fluidity.
Across all her work, colour plays a central role. Influenced by the Kent coastline, seasonal shifts and the emotional resonance of landscape and nature, Jane creates pieces that bring calm, light and expressive energy into interior spaces.
Jane regularly exhibits across Kent, including Whitstable where she has forthcoming exhibitions from 24th March at the Fishslab Gallery and from 1st April at Gallery2, Bruce Williams Gallery a further week. Jane will also have a solo exhibition at the Creative Hub in Maidstone from Tuesday 5th May for two weeks.
In addition to her original collections, Jane offers bespoke commissions tailored to specific interior colour schemes, creating artwork designed to complement and elevate homes and businesses.
