Biography
For as long as I can remember, I have always loved creating images, solving maths problems and exercise. These activities have never faded but, with my studio, my passion for drawing and painting has been able to flourish.
Taking inspiration from the real world, I am fascinated with complex patterns and their relationships between everything and everyone. From shadows to animals, buildings to coffee cups, I explore the transition from realism to abstraction by using a variety of materials.
Composition is my starting point. From here, I explore line and tone and this leads to my love of colour. I enjoy using charcoal, pen and ink, and acrylic paint to construct a complex image, often instinctive mark-making, that evolves into intricate, interrelated images. My compositions grow organically, allowing patterns and forms to emerge, intersect, and reshape one another over time.
