Biography

Sea and landscapes are the main narrative, although the paintings often describe atmosphere rather than being literal representations. I roughly plan the work but generally paint intuitively, making spontaneous decisions and problem solving as a painting develops. Many layers, some translucent, create depth of colour.

I use acrylic ink on board or paper, mostly working outside especially for larger paintings.

I completed a Foundation course at Maidstone KIAD before going on to study Fine Art in Canterbury, graduating in 2003.

small abstract painting set within a thick, layered wooden frame painted predominantly blue. Inside the frame, broad, textured brushstrokes form swirling bands of green, orange, red, and pale pink. Dark blue daubs are scattered across the surface, creating a dotted rhythm over the softer blended colours beneath.
